Monthly Tax Tip Newsletter
One short email a month, one tax idea worth more than it takes to read. No spam, no pitch, unsubscribe whenever.
What does a useful retirement newsletter actually look like? One short email a month, one idea, and your inbox back. That’s the whole promise of the RetirementFAQs Monthly Tax Tip, and I keep it on purpose.
What you get
Once a month I send a single tax or planning move worth knowing about. A deadline you can’t afford to miss. A rule that just changed. A small shift that quietly saves real money if you catch it early. I write it the way I’d explain it to you across a desk: plain, blunt, no jargon, and short enough to read before your coffee gets cold.
I’d rather send you one thing you’ll actually use than ten things you’ll skim and forget. Curate to the one that matters. That’s the editorial rule.
Who it’s for
Affluent pre-retirees and retirees who want to stay a step ahead without reading a 40-page tax bulletin to get there. If you like the way the glossary and the year-end tax moves checklist read, you’ll feel at home here. If you want daily market noise and hot takes, this isn’t that. I send less than almost anyone, and I mean it.
Why a monthly tax tip beats a year-end scramble
Here’s the part most people miss. The expensive tax mistakes aren’t the ones you make in April. They’re the ones you didn’t see coming in March of the year before. A Roth conversion works when you plan it across a low-income year, not when you rush it in December. A Qualified Charitable Distribution has to be set up before the money moves, not after. Catch these at the margins, month by month, and the planning does its job. Catch them late and you’re just filing paperwork on a decision already made.
So the newsletter isn’t really about tips. It’s about timing. One nudge a month, early enough to act on.
How to use it
Read it when it lands. If a tip fits your situation, flag it for your advisor or your next planning conversation. If it doesn’t, delete it and wait for the next one. No tip applies to everyone, and I’ll never pretend one does.
The newsletter is the front door to everything else here, the webinars and the reader community included. Come in through it. Start with the next email, give it three months, and keep the ones that move money.
