How does the Retirement Questions hotline work?

Where the real reader questions go to get answered in plain language. Ask yours, and the good ones shape what gets written next.

Where do you take the retirement question that’s too specific for a search bar and too small to book a meeting over? Right here. The Retirement Questions resource is where readers send what they’re actually wondering about, and where I answer the ones that help the most people.

What it is

Call it a hotline, but it’s really a running Q&A. You send a question. I read it. The ones that hit a common nerve get answered in plain language, the same way I’d talk it through with you in person. Many of those answers become the glossary entries and blog posts you find across this site. The questions write the roadmap.

Who it’s for

Pre-retirees and retirees who have a real question and want a straight answer, not a sales call. If you’ve ever finished an article thinking “okay, but what about my situation,” this is where that thought goes.

What it is not

This isn’t personalized financial, tax, or legal advice, and I won’t pretend a one-line reply could be. I don’t know your full picture from a single question, and anyone who’d give you a confident verdict without it is guessing. What I can do is explain how the rule works, name the trap most people fall into, and point you to the right next step. The decision still belongs to you and the advisor who knows your whole balance sheet.

Why I read these myself

Here’s the part that makes this worth doing. The questions tell me what people genuinely don’t understand, which is usually not what the industry assumes. Year after year the same confusions surface early: how the RMD is really calculated, why a Roth conversion can quietly raise a Medicare premium two years out, when a charitable gift has to be structured before the money moves. Reading the raw questions is how I catch those patterns at the margins and fix the explanation before it costs someone real money.

How it ties together

Questions feed the monthly newsletter and the webinar archive. A question you ask today might be next month’s email or next quarter’s live session. So ask the thing you’ve been sitting on. The blunter the better, and the better the question, the more it helps everyone reading after you.
